Frequently Asked Questions
-
We charge $250.00 inclusive of tax for an initial consultation via telephone or videoconference. Before the consultation, we will ask you to send us key documents to review in advance of our meeting. During the consultation, we will ask you to tell us about your matter, review the documents with you, provide you with information about your rights and legal options, and discuss potential retainer arrangements. The consultation will be 45 minutes.
In some cases, we may charge a higher consultation fee - for example, if your matter requires us to review several key documents in preparation for our meeting, or if it involves complexities that warrant a longer initial consultation meeting. If this is the case, we will communicate the consultation fee with you at the time of scheduling our meeting.
We charge a consultation fee because our time and knowledge are valuable. We take great care to listen to your experiences, understand your situation, and learn about your goals. This fee ensures we can dedicate our full attention to you and provide high-quality services that you deserve. Even if you do not move forward with us, you will gain a clearer understanding of your rights and next steps.
-
We do our best to provide same-day consultations when requested. To make this request, fill out our consultation form on our website, and indicate in the ‘Brief Description’ section that you would like a same-day consultation. We will do our best to schedule a consultation with you for the same day so that you can have peace of mind in knowing your rights and legal options.
-
We are committed to providing high-quality legal services for all our clients. Our fees vary based on the type of legal issue and complexity of your matter, and whether we are providing full representation or unbundled services.
During our initial consultation, we will discuss the scope of our services that are suitable for your matter and provide you with a preliminary assessment of anticipated costs so that you can make an informed decision before proceeding.
-
The length of time it takes for a matter to resolve or conclude depends on the type of matter it is and how complex it is.
Sometimes, a matter can take a few weeks to resolve through effective negotiations or appropriate dispute resolution. Cases that involve litigation can take several months or a few years. In highly contentious complex litigation (e.g., with multiple parties and novel issues), it can take many years for a case to move through the courts.
At Veromi Arsiradam Law, we work on matters that span the entire range. We will provide you with a realistic timeline once we review your matter.
-
Absolutely — we can, and we do! We do not shy away from challenging cases or litigation, if that’s what our clients need. In our complex litigation cases, we join together with other lawyers in Ontario as co-counsel.
We invite lawyers who are sole practitioners or lawyers at smaller firms to reach out to us if they would like to work with us as co-counsel.
-
Our practice is virtual, which allows us to work with clients across Ontario and, in some cases, around the world. We meet with clients via telephone or video conference.
For mediations, arbitrations, court hearings, etc., that require in-person attendance, we represent our clients on-site, in-person.
-
Finding the right lawyer for you and your matter is very important. An initial consultation meeting provides an opportunity for you to assess this.
The right lawyer will listen to your situation, answer your questions, and help you understand your legal options and goals. They will communicate transparently and candidly about your case, respond to your communications in a timely manner, and clearly explain the work they are doing on your file. They will conduct their work with competency and integrity, support you in making informed decisions, and treat you with respect, dignity, and empathy.
At Veromi Arsiradam Law, we aim to empower our clients to know their rights and legal options so that they can proceed with confidence.

-
After our consultation call, we will send you a brief email summarizing what we discussed. If you decide to retainer our services, we will draw up a retainer agreement for your review. Once we have a signed retainer agreement and your initial retainer fee is processed, we can begin working on your matter.
-
We keep in regular communication with our clients as we work on their files. We will keep you informed throughout the process and ensure that we discuss any questions you have at each stage of the process. We try to respond to all phone calls and emails within 24-48 hours.

In general, hiring a lawyer can be beneficial for many reasons. A lawyer can help navigate complex legal matters, prevent costly mistakes and increase the likelihood of a favourable outcome for you. They can strategically negotiate and advocate on your behalf, potentially securing a better result than if you were to handle the matter alone. A lawyer can skillfully navigate your legal matter, save you time and alleviate your stress by managing the intricacies of the law. In some cases, not hiring a lawyer can lead to greater financial, reputational, or personal costs.
It is important to have a candid and honest conversation during the initial consultation meeting to discuss the potential risks and benefits of your particular matter so that you can make an informed and empowered decision about how to proceed.
